What is massage therapy anyway?
- The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain (Massage Therapy Act, 1991).

What is a Massage Therapist?
- A Registered Massage Therapist is an individual who is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) in accordance with the Regulated Health Professionals Act and the Massage Therapy Act. Only members of the CMTO are permitted to use the title of Registered Massage Therapist or Massage Therapist, or the designation of RMT or MT.
- A Massage Therapist has completed competency-based education at a recognized school of massage therapy, has successfully completed provincial examinations to ensure that they have the necessary competencies to safely and effectively offer massage therapy care and maintains their registration by participating in continuing education and a quality assurance program to ensure they maintain their high professional standards and quality of care.
Do You Offer Direct Billing?
- Direct billing is not available. However, a detailed receipt will be e-mailed to you for insurance purposes. Please talk to your insurance company before your massage as some companies require a doctor’s note when going through your insurance.
